and armv7l
) was discontinued. No support for armv6
.
Discontinued versions
CentOS 6
According to the CentOS schedule, version 6 was supported up to Nov. 2020.
Starting with XBB v3.1, support for CentOS/RHEL 6 was discontinued.
RedHat 7
RHEL releases have a longer life cycle; Maintenance Support 1 for RHEL 7 ended in Augus 2020, with Maintenance Support 2 continued until June 2024.
However, XBB support for RHEL 7 is a tough requirement, and starting with XBB version 3.4 in 2022, support for RHEL 7 was discontinued.
Ubuntu 18
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver reached the end of the standard five-year maintenance window for Long-Term Support (LTS) release on 31 May 2023.
As a courtesy, the xPack GNU/Linux releases will continue to be based on Ubuntu 18.04 for another year.
Starting with XBB version 6.0.0 in 2025, support for Ubuntu 18 was discontinued.
Current base version - Debian 10
For GNU/Linux, to preserve support for older distributions, the Debian 10 distribution was selected; the resulting binaries depend on GLIBC 2.28 and should also run on RHEL 8 or newer, Fedora 29 or newer.
For Arm platforms, the resulting binaries are expected to run on all Raspberry Pi 64-bit class machines.
Future plans
The next base version will be GLIBC 2.31, from Debian 11, also supported by Ubuntu 20, Fedora 32, RHEL 9.
